This week marks the deadline for lawmakers to veto the so-called "Show-Me" school standards. So far, no such action has been announced by an Administrative Committe overseeing the matter, even though some legislators want more time to review the regulations. Senator Dave Klarich (clair-ish) is asking for more information on the changes. He says he doesn't want the proposed non-academic standards to become more important than the basics of education.

"We're talking about in an academic environment now...where we're presenting information to our children. I have only requested that the department clarify where they're trying to take our children."

Klarich has asked the Committee to suspend adoption of the standards by the Friday deadline. Chairman, Senator Jerry Howard could not be reached to say if such a session would be held.
