Welfare to Work Program Stops Food Stamp Abuse

Missouri's Family Service Centers have found a way to catch people abusing the state's food stamp system. Jennifer Horton tells us about it. Story:Jennifer Horton

Companies who need employees are using local Family Service Centers to access the names of the unemployed that say they are willing to work.

Those companies then report back to the Family Service Center if the new employee is not coming to work.

Senator Jim Mathewson created the program and says it is an excellent way to track food stamp recipients

Senator Mathewson says that in the past six months over 19-thousand people have been taken off food stamps as a result of this program.
