For the second time, the House defeated a bill that cracks down on credit card fraud.
Missy Shelton has the story from Jefferson City.
This measure would make it illegal for someone else to use your social security number to obtain a credit card.
Legislators opposing the bill said current legislation already covers these issues.
Others said sending those guilty of credit card fraud to jail for five years is too harsh.
Bill sponsor, St Louis County Joan Bray, said the bill simply is designed to protect consumers.
From Jefferson City, I'm Missy Shelton.
