Black Caucus Upset Over Lack of Funding

In a last minute effort to pass the economic development bill, representatives from the governor's office promised Black Caucus leaders funding for a low income work fare training program. Tristin Yeager reports from the state capital.

Black Caucus leaders were surprised to learn that funding for low income work fare training programs had been stripped out of the version of the bill presented before the House. When the governor's representatives realized the bill might not pass, a frenzied effort began to appease the Black Caucus and provide funding for the program. Since additions can't be made to the bill at this point, Hartman says that funding could come from the Department of Economic Development, the Department of Social Services or the Missouri Housing Development Commission.
