Missouri legislators heard several house bills on how to enforce the Federal Kassebaum-Kennedy Act Congress passed in August.

Columbia resident Dennis Drane testified in favor of a bill that would make health insurance more accessible.

Drane was diagnosed with colon cancer and required treatment, but he lost his insurance when his wife lost her job.

Under the act, certain workers won't lose their health insurance if they lose their job.

Also the act provides credit for prior continuous, health insurance coverage.
