No Vote on a Bill Making PSC Commissioners Elected Officials

One Missouri Senator is trying to make Public Service Commissioners elected officials and decrease the salary.

The idea of an elected PSC was initiated after the commission voted to terminate a toll-free phone-calling system in rural Missouri.

Rural Missouri Republcian Senator Doyle Childers sponsored the bill.

Senator Childers said he wants nine elected commissioners who would receive one third of the pay commissioners recieve now.

Senator Childers, a Republican from rural Missouri said he wants changes made to the PSC.

The bill he's sponsoring calls for a two-thirds pay cut and a change from six appointed commissioners to nine elected commissioners.

Senator Childers said it's an issue of accountability.
