Kansas City School District loses accreditation

St. Louis City school district survived today's/Thursday's accreditation hearing, but the state's other metropolitan school district wasn't so lucky. Aaron Cummins has the story from Jefferson City--

The Kansas City School District lost its state accreditation despite appeals from the district superintendent and a state senator.

Missouri Commissioner of Education Robert Bartman says that even though the decisions for the two districts are different, both are now on the same timetable for improvement.

Contents: Bartman says the state is hopeful that both school districts can improve quickly enough to avoid restructuring by the state.

Both school districts have until the summer of 2002 to meet state accreditation requirements.
