State senators grapple with legislation designed to bring horse race betting to Missouri.
Missy Shelton reports from the state captiol.
Voters approved betting on horse races back in the 1980's.
But since then, no tracks have come to the state.
St Louis County senator Betty Sims is sponsoring a bill to allow simulcasting of races from around the country...She says that will provide a financial incentive for tracks to locate in Missouri.
And if they do, she says it's a plus for Missouri agriculture.
Opponents argue voters didn't approve simulcasting when they voted on the issue.
The horse racing bill is up for consideration in a Senate committee.
