Senate Debate over GOP Aide's Financial Dealings

On a party-line vote, the Senate derailed a Democratic effort calling for an investigation into the financial interests of the chief of staff for Senate's top leader. JiaoJiao Shen has more from Jefferson City.

The resolution for an investigation was sponsored by Senator Harold Caskey. He said he wants an investigation of the Senate President Pro Tem's chief of staff.

Caskey says Kinder's Chief of Staff David Barklage held financial interests in a political consulting firm.

But Caskey says he is not convicting Barklage.

David Barklage owns a political sevices company that got more than 117-thousand dollars from a Republican campaign fund.

Caskey said he doesn't know if any laws have been broken, but that he wants a hearing to find out.
