Gaming Commission has to Remove Keno in Missouri

Missourians won't be able to play keno anymore under an approved House substitute.

JiaoJiao Shen has the story from Jefferson City.

The gaming commission brought keno to Missouri but now they might remove it again.

The Missouri House adopted an amendment that says the commission cannot implement or operate keno games unless it is approved by voters.

But the amendment met opposition on the floor.

Representative James Foley of St. Louis County says education needs the funds from keno revenue.

The House adopted the amendment to a House substitute that received approval on the floor Tuesday.

The Missouri gaming commission brought keno to Missouri not long ago, but now they'll have to remove it, under a House substitute given approval Tuesday. JiaoJiao Shen has more from Jefferson City.

The House adopted an amendment that says the gaming commission cannot implement or operate any keno game in Missouri unless it is approved by voters.

Opposers say the money from keno is needed to fund education.

But supporters of the amendment say using the gambling money for education will have a negative impact on young people.

Representative Jane Cunningham of St. Louis County supports the amendment.

The amendment was adopted to a House substitute that received approval on the floor Tuesday.
