Senator Westfall denied a vote on tax increase legislation

A Republican Senator is denied a vote on a half-billion dollar tax increase.

Justin Herndon has more.

Senator Morris Westfall says he expected the Senate to vote on his bill for a sales and gasoline tax increase but the vote was stalled by three hours of debate.

Westfall says time is running thin for his bill to pass.

Floor Leader Bill Kenney says the Senate won't be pursing more debate on the bill until some time next week at the earliest.

Senators avoid voting on a sales and gas tax increase.

Amendment after amendment stalled a final vote from coming but Westfalls says he thinks that will end.

Westfall says he hopes a vote will come next week.
