It appears Republican budget writers in the House and Senate have reached a compromise on how to craft a final version of the budget.

The House had voted in favor of a budget plan that gave state department directors a lump sum to spend as they see fit.
But the Senate took a more traditional approach to the budget, laying out a detailed spending plan line by line.

Lawmakers have until Friday to send the governor a budget proposal.
