House debates union fees

The legislature is debating whether state workers can be required to pay union dues . . . even if they don't want to join the union. Aidian Holder reports.

Governor Holden issued an executive order last year requiring state employees to pay union service fees if their jobs are covered by union agreements . . . even employees who don't wish to belong to a union.

Republicans in the legislature have bitterly denounced the plan and they're moving to kill the executive order by legislative action.

St. Louis County Representative Richard Byrd sponsored the House bill to kill the plan.

The GOP bill will probably be voted on tomorrow in the House . . . if it's passed there it moves on to the Senate.
