Missouri Highway Patrol Troopers in Mississippi

Missouri joins five other states sending state troopers to the Gulf Coast to help Mississippi recover from Hurricane Katrina. David Schneider has more in Jefferson City.

The State Highway Patrol says about 50 uniformed troopers and six radio operators arrived in Biloxi, Mississippi Saturday. This is in addition to the some 2,000 National Guard soldiers already on the Gulf Coast. The patrol troopers are helping Mississippi law enforcement officials protect cleanup crews and keep citizens out of dangerous areas. Missouri Highway Patrol spokesman Lieutenant Tim Hull says conditions in Mississippi have not been easy.

"It's hot, dirty work because there's just no other way to describe it, that's just the location there right now, it's just that situation."
