Although there have been no reports of the bacteria in Missouri, local grocers have taken steps to ensure public health.

Spokesperson for Shop N' Save, Rebecca Herbst says the chain is taking precautions.

Actuality:  HERBST1.WAV
Run Time: 00:10
Description: "We immediately responded by taking all the spinach off the shelves and then put signs up for those customers who might not have known about the recall."

The outbreak continues to spread across the nation, most recently hitting Illinois and Nebraska.

The department of health reiterates the Food and Drug Administration's request that Americans avoid all fresh spinach.
