Three MOHELA board members have resigned in the last three days; the latest resignation announcement came on Tuesday.

With a vote on the Lewis and Clark Discovery Initiative scheduled for September 27th, House Democrat Clint Zweifel of Florissant, says these resignations warrant a hault in the process so that the new members the governor appoints will have time to catch up with the latest changes to the plan.

Description: "This board at it's current pase has taken a long time to get caught up on this proposal -- a long time to come to a point where they are even close to a decision making process. I wonder now if we are losing three-sevenths of the board whether it makes sense to stop and try to start again."

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, MOHELA's board chairwoman says she is willing to reschedule the vote in order to give the governor more time to make appointments.

After 3 announced departures in 2 days, leaders are saying a delay on the MOHELA vote may be in order.

Marylin Bush will be replaced with Pulaski Bank employee W. Thomas Reeves.

Charles McClain excused himself for health reasons.

The latest, James Ricks, is an employee of Southeast Missouri State University and had been advised by a MOHELA attorney not to vote because the university would benefit from the plan.

The governor's Chief of Staff, Ed Martin, says Blunt's office is willing to accept the delay.

Description: "Chairwoman Luebbert is someone who has been thoughtful and put together an agenda and and been very smart about things.  So when she sends a letter like that we have to consider it and think about it."

Unless changes are made, MOHELA's board is scheduled to meet on September 27th to vote.
