State Lawmaker Proposes Criminalizing Stealing Phone Records

One state lawmaker says it's time to bust people who steal your phone records.

A proposed law would make stealing your landline and cell phone records a crime.

State Representative Shannon Cooper says if passed, his bill will help Missouri fight the national problem.

Beth Canuteson's with Sprint/Nextel.

She says right now it's too easy for someone to swipe your records.

Contents: "Unscrupulous data brokers who make their money on stealing our phone records of our customers have given not just the customers a fear of using their phones, but also given the industry a bit of a black eye."

Canuteson says her company is already doing all it can to stop people who take the records.

Cooper's bill must still face the House and Senate.
