Legislator wants to limit eminent domain abuse

The issue of Eminent Domain continues to generate new bills in the Missouri legislature. Tim Walker has more from Jefferson City.

St. Louis representative Jim Lembke is proposing legislation to make it harder for cities and municipalities to blight land.

Lembke is one of several lawmakers proposing legislation to change the definition of blight.

He says the Task Force on Eminent Domain's suggestions didn't go far enough.

"I think that what came out of the Task Force was a little wanting and that's why I introduced my bill; that again I think puts in place higher standards than what actually came out of the Task Force."

Lembke says Missouri is currently one of the worst abusers of eminent domain.
