Representative Mark Bruns proposed a bill Wednesday, that prohibits employers from reprimanding or terminating employees that miss work due to volunteer firefighting.

Under the new proposal, Bruns explains that volunteer firefighters would not be held responsible for job hours missed while responding to emergency calls.

Description: Bruns explains that volunteer firefighters would not be held responsible for job hours missed while responding to emergency calls.

In addition to employer flexibility, the Bill also establishes a specific definition for fire departments.

The bill would provide each public fire department with a valid ID number, helping to clearly identify public departments and streamline the grant process.
