Erika Navarrete (Nahv-ah-rett) has more from the state capitol.
Republican Representative Jeff Grisamore and Democratic Representative Sam Page are sponsoring two bills that would require health insurance plans to cover autism.
Currently, those with autism are not covered by insurance companies and Page says this is an injustice.

|Description: "Autism is the only common neurological disorder that is not covered by commercial health plans. Most people recognize that as discrimination against kids and families with autism and we need to change that."|
In addition to Page's argument, his co-sponsor said giving insurance coverage to those with autism is the right thing to do.
But those of the insurance industry disagreed, saying this legislation would result in an increase of insurance premiums.
Four people testified in opposition to the bill that remains pending before the committee.
