State Treasurer Sarah Steelman didn't cite any companies in particular, saying the US Justice Department should launch an investigation into those companies helped by the rescue plan.

Actuality:  SARAH1.WAV
Run Time: 00:27
Description: I think the Justice Department needs to be called upon to crack down and investigate these guys and find out just exactly what went on and who knew what, when, and if they lied to their shareholders, and if they lied to their shareholders then they have responsibility and they should be required and penalized and at the full, force and effect of the Federal Government should come down on those guys so that it doesn't happen again.

Steelman says besides criminal charges, the Government needs to require those companies helped by the bailout bill to pay back all the salaries they were given.

State Treasurer Sarah Steelman says blame for the current economic crisis is bipartisan since both parties failed to see and act in early stages of the crisis.

Steelman added it doesn't help that the same people who started the crisis are the ones trying to solve it and still have yet to claim responsibility for their actions.

Actuality:  SARAH2.WAV
Run Time: 00:10
Description: Have you even seen anyone come out and say we should've done something differently and that this was our fault?  You haven't seen anyone take responsibility for it.

Steelman predicted things will get better but there will have to be substantial leadership from both Congress and the next President in order for there to be a turnaround.
