The troops arrived in Louisiana in August with a checklist of things they needed to do.

Some guardsmen helped out local police, some assisted with the clean-up and others distributed supplies.

State Public Affairs Officer, Captain Tamara Spicer, said the guard is making a big impact in the weather damaged state.

Description: The Missouri National Guard citizen soldiers that have been in Louisiana have been very instrumental in helping the communities across that state get their basic services back and help restore things to as normal as possible.

With hurricane Ike on a path toward the south, the troops are coming home.

Reporting from Jefferson City, I'm Brenda Martens.
