Proponents of the second amendment were urged by several Republican Representatives to voice their support of this bill to their senator.

President of the Missouri Sport Shooting Association, Kevin Jamison, says the demise of the shooting range would signal the demise of the gun owner.

Actuality:  GUNRALLY.WAV
Run Time: 00:19
Description: Without a range, we have no future. There will be no safe place to practice. There will be injuries from people shooting in unsafe places. This will be blamed on us, and there will be laws passed against us.

This bill has passed out of the House and awaits debate in the Senate.

Gun rights lobbyist Tim Oliver says the people who oppose this bill hope that gun owners will have no use for their guns without gun ranges.

Actuality:  OLIVER.WAV
Run Time: 00:14
Description: They think, like little children, if we don't have a place to play with our toys, pretty soon we'll put them down and lose interest. I've got news for them: It's not going to happen. But they think that it is.

Oliver says this bill would stop people from filing lawsuits against gun range owners and users.

Republican legislators and gun activists urged gun owners to publicly support a bill that would protect gun range owners and users.

St. Louis County Democratic Representative Michael Vogt says he does not agree to granting "unlimited immunity" to people "who play with guns."

Actuality:  VOGT.WAV
Run Time: 00:19
Description: So basically what you could have is a bunch of people on a gun range playing some sort of shooting game or something, and they could accidentally hurt somebody, or accidentally kill somebody, or accidentally cause a large amount of property damage and not be held liable in either a criminal court or a civil court for their actions.

The bill has passed out of the House and awaits decision in the Senate.
