Huckabee held a 45 minute press conference at the headquarters of one of the state's major business organizations. He was greeted by raucous applause and handcrafted signs of support held up by both toddlers and teens, Huckabee pushed his tax plan to abolish the federal income tax.  Under his proposal, the federal tax would be replaced by a national sales tax:

Run Time: 00:17
Description: And today we have a system where excessive taxation, regulation, threat of litigation results in the loss of jobs and job migration. There is a way to change this and it starts with getting rid of a tax system that penalizes productivity which ours does.

In addition to his tax plan, Huckabee made a ten-year pledge at the Association Industries headquarters:

Actuality:  HUCK2.WAV
Run Time: 00:21
Description: I pledge that within 10 years we will be energy independent and we will no longer have to depend upon foreign oil, and we'll be able to tell those in the middle east, including the Saudis, 'Keep your oil. We don't need it anymore than we need your sand.'

Huckabee also spoke on the threat of terrorism on the U.S. and how Americans must recognize the constant threat that they face.

Actuality:  HUCK3.WAV
Run Time: 00:20
Description: But the second thing is to recognize the serious threat that we do face from extremist Islam. And that we would recognize, that with all due respect to some, if we leave them alone, it doesn't mean they will leave us alone. They wont. They will annihilate us.

Huckabee ended with a joke that he hoped Republican candidates Mitt Romney and John McCain would drop out after they saw the results of next week's Missouri Primary. The crowd erupted with loud approval.

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee spoke to a packed house at the Associated Industries office in Jefferson City.

Huckabee promoted his plan to abolish the federal income tax and replace it with a national sales tax.  He called it a Fair Tax Policy.

At the business organization headquarters, he also called for more secure borders to stop illegal immigration.

Actuality:  HUCK4.WAV
Run Time: 00:13
Description: For example, today many people are very frustrated that it's more difficult to get on an airplane in their own home town than it is for an illegal to cross our international borders. And the reason people are frustrated is because the federal government has completely failed to address that problem.

Huckabee also insisted that the U.S needed to be tough on terrorism and needed to find a way of fueling itself without the help of the middle east.
