A bill would require at least a 24-hour period for an abortion and it cannot be performed or induced without voluntary and uncoerced consent of the woman.

Sponsor of the bill Robert Onder stressed on the importance of the state's duty to protect women from vulnerable circumstances.

Actuality:  ONDER3.WAV
Run Time: 00:11
Description: "The law is really to protect the weak from the strong and women regularly find themselves in a very vulnerable situation when they are faced with an unplanned pregnancy."

But critics said that this bill will invade the physician-patient relationship.

The bill would also require objective and unbiased information about abortion alternatives to be provided for a woman who is considering an abortion.

From Jefferson City, this is Suvro Banerji, KMOX News.
