Legislators are fed up with the amount of sexual misconduct in Missouri schools.

Republican Representative Jane Cunningham says a main purpose for the bill she is sponsoring is to protect victims who are too scared to protect themselves.

Actuality:  JANE.WAV

Description: They are scared to death and it takes them years, sometimes decades to ever come forward about this. So we've also removed the statute of limitations because sexual misconduct between a teacher and a child is never casual sex.

The bill also requires annual background checks for school employees.

A study by the Associated Press shows that Missouri is the eleventh worst state in the country for cases of sexual misconduct committed by educators.
