Special team for Missouri National Guard prepares for deployment

Agriculture in Missouri is making a difference in Afghanistan now that a group of soldiers will be deployed.

Wrap: The Missouri National Guard held a deployment ceremony Thursday to honor Missouri soldiers and airmen of the Agribusiness Development Team.

This is the third team deployed to Afghanistan to help improve its agricultural systems.

Governor Jay Nixon said the team's training prepared them for their mission.

Description: "By using the skills and technology from right here in Missouri to help these local farmers begin to have an independent agriculture movement that does not include fueling a worldwide drug trade, and also so that Afghanistan can work toward feeding itself."

The 60 men and women of the team will spend the next year improving veterinary practices and water systems.
