Governor Jay Nixon says his goal is to increase Missouri broadband accessibility by 20 percent by the end of 2014.
The state claims 79 percent of Missourians have access to broadband, but only about 50 percent are active subscribers.
Governor Nixon says his goal is for 95 percent of Missourians to have broadband available by 2014.

In order to compete for the federal funding to support Missouri broadband expansion, Nixon established a public-private initiative two years ago.
Now, Missouri has 261 million dollar to award grants to broadband providers.
