By: Mengti Xu
State Capitol Bureau

Intro:
A House committee is appointed to conduct an independent investigation into Mamtek's default while a Senate committee is looking into the same situation.
RunTime:  0:45
OutCue:  SOC

Wrap: The chair of the House committee is Central Missouri Representative Jay Barnes.

He says it's worthwhile to have a House committee do an investigation as well as the Senate.

Barnes says the committee's focus is Mamtek's contact with the state from the beginning until now.

Actuality:  JAY02.WAV
Run Time:  00:12
Description: "We want to know everything that happened in between and to figure out if something went wrong. If there was something that could have been avoided, and if so, figure out how we avoid that happening ever again."

Barnes says the committee will ask for documents from the Department of Economic Development and may schedule a hearing in mid November.

The chair of the Senate committee Jim Lembke says the committee is still waiting on receiving documents it has requested.

Wrap: A House committee is appointed to conduct its own investigation into Mamtek's default after a Senate committee has launched an investigation.

The chair of the House committee is Central Missouri Representative Jay Barnes.

He says the committee will ask for documents from the Department of Economic Development related to Mamtek and its contact with the state of Missouri.

Actuality:  JAY0.WAV
Run Time:  00:11
Description: "We're gonna start with Mamtek, but we we're also gonna ask questions about other large tax credits that work ok by the department, and We double check and see whether jobs promised have ended up being jobs delivered."

Barnes also says there is going to be some similar questions to ask, but the committee members may have different lines of inquiry than the Senate.
