Friday Marks End of Special Session, Legislates Say

The doom to the Missouri special session is looming with a Friday deadline set by Senate leaders just hours away and lawmakers still far apart on the key bill.

Wrap: If the China Hub bill dies in the special session, so does the rest of the legislation lawmakers have been working on for the past two weeks. That's the word from Senate President Pro Tem Rob Mayer.

When asked if the Friday deadline was firm, Mayer said it wasn't, but he would need a good reason to extend the special session into its fourth week.

Wrap: The reason for the special session is the reason it might die without any legislation being passed.

House and Senate leadership have signified they are far apart on the China Hub bill. Legislators say if they don't come together soon, lawmakers may go home without passing anything.  Senate President Pro Tem Rob Mayer made it clear that if an agreement isn't reached the Senate will adjourn when they meet today - marking an ugly doom to the special session.
