Wrap: Introduced in May, the program was meant to minimize government Medicaid costs and provide clients with better services.

But the Department of Health and Senior Services deputy director Peter Lyskowski says since then, 33 government workers have had to help deal with an influx of patient phone calls.

Jackson County Representative Jeff Grisamore is one of the Budget Committee members calling for the end of the program.

Description: "You know we've had some natural disasters of huge magnitude in the state this year, but I think this is a manmade disaster and unfortunately it's affecting our most vulnerable population: seniors and individuals with disabilities."

Lyskowski says his department's job is to provide care for its clients... with or without Syncare.

As of now, there is no long-term plan to eliminate the relationship.

Reporting from the state Capitol, I'm Mariel Seidman-Gati.
