Description: "That's what we need right now. We need to show the world and the global economy that Missouri's going to put on an aggressive push to be that place that employers are confident that they can expand their operation or locate in Missouri and that we're going to be absolutely pro-jobs and pro-business and friendly to those entrepreneurs out there that are going to pull us out of a sluggish economy."

Governor Nixon's campaign manager said in an e-mail that Nixon has helped make Missouri's business climate one of the strongest in the nation since taking office.

Wrap: The endorsement comes a day after lawmakers failed to override Governor Jay Nixon's veto on a chamber-backed vehicle tax bill, but chamber leaders say that doesn't have anything to do with their endorsement.

On a conference call, Republican candidate Dave Spence says he will focus on not doing things for political purposes if he's elected.

Description: "We need to do the right thing for Missouri businesses and get our citizens back to work."

The chamber cited Spence's business experience as a main reason for their endorsement. But in a rebuttal, Nixon's campaign manager says the Governor has and will continue to work hard for business leaders from across the state.
