Intro:
The Missouri Senate has refused to accept the new filing deadlines passed by the House Thursday.
RunTime:  0:42
OutCue:  SOC

Wrap: The proposed filing date extension stems from controversy regarding redistricting based on the 2010 census.

Several Senators blocked the bill, including Republican Senator Jane Cunningham of Saint Louis County. She was displaced under the new maps into a district where she could not run for reelection.

Cunningham called the proposed map "non-sensical" and "stupid." She also spoke of the possible effects of the redistricting on her constituents.

Run Time:  00:10
Description: "I can only imagine that they feel very slighted by what has happened...I don't know what the fall out of this is going to be, but I can't see anything positive in this, not a bit."

The bill would extend the filing deadline by two weeks.

Run Time:  00:23

The bill would extend the filing deadline by two weeks.
