Wrap: The resolution would add a state lottery ticket for the Veterans Commission Capital Improvement Trust Fund.

Run Time:  00:05
Description: "Without this resolution, the veterans home fund and trust fund will be bankrupt by the end of 2013."

Opponents to the resolution say they are concerned that this lottery would detract from the lottery benefitting education.

The bill will now move to the Senate for approval and would require a public vote before the amendment is added.

Wrap: The House passed a resolution to create a lottery to benefit Missouri veterans by a vote of 137 to 14.

Profits from the lottery would go toward the Veterans Commission Capital Improvement Trust Fund.

House Speaker Steve Tilley says the funding for veterans homes was a priority for the Republican caucus this year.

Actuality:  STILLEY2.WAV
Run Time:  00:05
Description: "We did it with unbelievable bipartisan support...and we look forward to it's passage in the Senate."

Opponents of the resolution say the new ticket could take away funds for education, which is currently the only source receiving funds from lottery.

The resolution would require a public vote before the tickets can be sold.
