Wrap: Senate Appropriations Chairman Kurt Schaefer says newly discovered documents show that the names of Missouri "concealed carry" permit holders were sent to the Social Security Administration and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Schaefer says tracking and sharing gun owners' information is a violation of their privacy rights.

Actuality:  VIGUNS.WAV
Run Time:  00:15
Description: "This isn't a back-door gun list, this is a front-door gun list. This is taking the entire list of Misouri concealed carry firearms owners and giving that to the ATF. It's a direct assault on Missourian's Second Amendment rights and our rights under Article I, Section 23 of the Missouri Constitution."

Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon says the revenue department controversy is just a Republican effort to take attention away from his Medicaid expansion proposal.

Wrap: Columbia Republican Kurt Schaefer says newly discovered documents show that the names of Missouri "concealed carry" permit holders were sent to the Social Security Administration and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The revenue department has been under fire from lawmakers about the gun owners information for several weeks. Schaefer says the new documents show the revenue department hasn't been truthful when talking with lawmakers.

Actuality:  KURT1.WAV
Run Time:  00:07
Description: "There's only one constant in this investigation thats been going on for a month and a half and thats that things that people tell you are true one day you find out aren't true the next day."

Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon says the revenue department controversy is just a diversion by Republicans to take attention off his proposal to expand Missouri's Medicaid program.

The discovery comes weeks after Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon had said there wasn't wany database of concealed carry owners. Schaefer says his new documents show that's not true.

Actuality:  SHDB.WAV
Run Time:  00:07
Description: "So there is a magical database. It's been paid for by taxpayers. It was created by the state and we turned the keys over to the federal government."

The controversy has already caused the director of the Department of Revenue to quit his job. Nixon says the revenue department controversy is just a diversion by Republicans.
