Wrap: Gov. Jay Nixon vetoed a bill in July that would've allowed the state Capitol Commission to sell alcoholic beverages in the Capitol.

House Assistant Chief Clerk Dana Miller says the event was planned well before Nixon's veto and was approved by the House speaker.

Description: We weren't sure if it would pass or not, so we had already had this planned, invitations were done prior to the bill being vetoed. And then beyond that, we had talked and gotten permission from the speaker of the House to conduct the event in the House chamber specifically and had gotten his blessing to do that.

In vetoing the bill, Nixon wrote that visitors to the Capitol should feel comfortable when they visit.
