Run Time:  00:07
Description: Just like anything else things change through the process, but I'm hopeful same sort of ban can be passed into law.

The Senate bill also prohibits legislators from working as paid political consultants.

No legislators voiced opposition to the bill.

The bill's sponsor is Jefferson City Republican Jay Barnes.

Run Time:  00:08
Description: There's broad support in the committee for the idea of stopping the revolving door from legislators turning directly into lobbyists.

The Senate passed a similar bill that would require a two-year waiting period but exempted current lawmakers.

Wrap:The Senate passed a bill that would require a two-year waiting period before lawmakers can become lobbyists.  The House bill, however, would only require lawmakers to wait one year before becoming lobbyists.

The bill's sponsor is Jefferson City Republican Jay Barnes.

Actuality:

BARNZ1.WAV
Run Time:  00:10
Description:  I think we ought to get rid of the appearance and real examples of impropriety in the same swoop. And I think we do that by banning the revolving door.

No legislators voiced opposition to the bill.
