Missouri Auditor Finds Senate Sexual Harassment Training Limited

Wrap:The Missouri State Auditor’s office is asking for moresexual harassment training in the State Senate.

Among the Senate’s slush fund and paid-time off issues, thestate’s audit found that Senate employees are not required to complete sexualharassment training more than once.

The audit comes just a year after the resignation of a senatorfollowing allegations of harassment.

State Auditor Nicole Galloway said that Senators can go years with minimal sexual harassment training.

Description: Unfortunately the Senate only trains folks in instances of policy when they first start their term, so if they’re elected for 8 years that means they’re only trained one time.

The House requires all members and staff to undergoharassment training each year.

It’s now over a year after former State Senator Paul LeVotaresigned over sexual harassment allegations – spurring additional mandatoryreporting and oversight of interns in the Senate.

The revised policies did not include required annualtraining, which Galloway said would be ideal.
