Missouri Transportation director gave state lawmakers somber news about highway maintenance.
Wrap: Faced with a significant funding shortage, Missouri's new Transportation Department director presented a report reinforcing the department's financial problems.
Pat McKenna warned the legislative committee his department lacks funds to improve state highways:
|Description: "Right now, keeping the system in its current condition is effectively all we can afford. To expand and improve our system, we'll need to find or create new revenue streams."|
Like previous Transportation Department directors, McKenna did not present any type of financial plan to raise revenues like a gas tax or toll roads.
