The Griffin indictment was issued just five days before the November elections. As we hear from Phill Brooks in Jefferson City, it's already become an issue in the campaigns.
Republicans have been quick react to the Griffin federal indictments.
And it's directed not just at Democrats who had supported Griffin.
Among those attacked was one of Griffin's leading Democratic critics -- Attorney General Jay Nixon.
Two years ago Nixon said Griffin had violated the law with riverboat gambling.
But the Republican candidate for Attorney General -- Mark Bredemeier -- says Nixon missed the issues upon which Griffin was indicted:
Nixon was not immediately available for comment.
Meanwhile, one of those rebel House Democrats who had opposed Griffin's last election as speaker issued a news release saying the indictments have justified his votes against Griffin.
