Senate banns partial birth abortion

The Missouri Senate voted Monday to ban partial birth abortion.

Beth Bentley has the story from Jefferson City.

Just as it did on the national level, banning partial birth abortion sparked heated debate in the Missouri Senate.

Senator John Schneider who supports the ban sparred with Columbia Senator Ken Jacob over whether the procedure was immoral.

Regardless of Senator Jacob's passionate speech, the bill passed with very little opposition.

The bill faces one final procedural vote before it heads to the House.
