Democrats and Republicans say they've joined forces to ensure a three percent cut in sales tax on groceries.
The bill is co-sponsored by Democrat House Speaker Steve Gaw and Republican minority leader Mark Richardson.
A similar tax cut failed to pass in last year's legislative session, but Gaw says he is confident that this year's version will pass without any major changes.
Richardson says that for the Republicans, support for a lower sales tax is part of a larger plan.
For an average family of four, the sales tax cut would mean annual savings of 137 dollars. From the state capitol, I'm Liz Zack.
