Auditor criticizes Transportation Department training practices

The state auditor says some state employees were paid for six hours of work when they only worked for a half-hour at a Missouri Department of Transportation skills competition.

Robert Sandler has more from Jefferson City.

The competitions... known as roadeos...allowed workers to earn prizes that cost the state at least $870,000 over the last two years.

Jeff Briggs of MoDOT says that it will have to find an alternative to the program.

MoDOT suspended the roadeo program in August due to budget constraints.
