The chief aide to the top Republican in Missouri's senate has resigned amidst allegations of conflict of interest.
Johnathan Woodward has more from Jefferson City.
David Barklage was the chief of staff to Senator Peter Kinder.
But Barklage also owns a political consulting firm in Cape Girardeau. That firm got money from a Republican campaign fund largely controlled by Kinder.
Republican senator Bill Kenney says the controversy is simply a Democratic attack.
But Democratic Senator Ed Quick says that's not the case:
Barklage says he resigned to avoid being a distraction to the Senate.
