Questions raised about venue shopping in concealed weapons lawsuit

A lawsuit filed against Missouri's concealed weapons law has raised new questions about venue shopping.

State officials say they wonder if plaintiffs filed suit in St. Louis City because of weak arguments and judge shopping. Suits are usually filed in Cole County where the state Capitol is located. Rep. Larry Crawford says that suits against the state should be tried in the capital city.

Contents: If on a Constitutional matter they enjoin some one person from the city and then file it there, I think that could have some detrimental long-term effects if this is allowed to stand.

Crawford sponsored the bill for concealed weapons and said he would like to see this injunction lifted. A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23.
