The Missouri Senate has put a bill regulating abortion on hold for now.
Victor Roberto has more from the state Capitol.
The Senate shelved a bill that would make it harder to get an abortion.
The bill is targeted at anyone who helps a minor get an abortion, allowing lawsuits against those people.
It is also aimed at doctors who perform abortions, requiring them to be within 30 miles of a hospital where they can operate.
The bill's strongest opponent, St. Louis County Senator Joan Bray, says women will suffer under the proposal.
Supporters of the bill say they are trying to protect women.
Lawmakers can keep debating the bill before the session ends Friday evening.
From the state Capitol, I'm Victor Roberto.
