New Blight Definition Proposed

One St. Louis lawmaker is proposing legislation to make it harder to abuse eminent domain.

Kathryn Buschman has more from Jefferson City.

Representative Jim Lembke's proposed legislation would redefine blight. Currently the state can take property that is deemed blighted. Lembke says blight is frequenlty mis-used and his definition increases the criteria for blighting property.

Contents: "Currently the standard is so loose you could drive a truck through it and it is allowing small municipalities and even the state to actually go in."

Lembke also says cities should not be able to take private property for economic purposes.
