Imus' statements spark debate

Intro: Imus' "racially charged statements" sparked much debate across the country. Hillari Duthoo (DOO-thoh) reports from the state Capitol. RunTime:

Radio talk show host Don Imus' comments regarding the Rutgers women's basketball team have landed him in hot water with political activists and his network.

The so-called "shock jock" called the young women "nappy-headed hos" in his comments about the outcome of a game.

The Rutgers players have yet to accept an appology, and their coach says the student atheletes were "young ladies of class and distinction".

The treasurer of the Missouri Black Caucus, St. Louis Senator Rita Days reacted to Imus' statements.

Description: "It's not just, you walk out there and you automatically do it. Some people may thing that because they are black they are born with their innate abilities.  But that's not true.  And so they have worked extremely hard to get where they are and I think that should be respected."


MSNBC's own website reports that the radio personality will be suspended for two weeks, starting next Monday.
