Senate bill aims to provide odor relief for Missouri residents.

Intro: The Missouri Senate granted first round approval to a bill that will establish harsher penalties for air and water pollution.

Residents of Carthage, Missouri want relief from the constant odor that covers their community.

The smell is caused by a nearby recycling plant that converts animal parts into petroleum.

Republican Senator Gary Nodler sponsored a bill that will penalize companies that violate air and water pollution guidelines.

Description: This is not in a rural area this is in an urban area within the corporate limits of the city. And it's impeded a significant tourism industry as well as being a significant inconvienence to the residents of the community in general.

The bill faces another vote in the Senate before it goes to the House.
