Description: "Nobody read that four-paged, singled-spaced, typed explanation of the ballot proposition, probably besides me, and gentlemen they did not know there was an escalator. Gentlemen, I'm just showing a little courage right now, because this was a courageous issue for me to take to the floor. This was a courageous issue."

Opponents of the bill do not believe it is fair to cut off waiters salaries during this economic situation in an effort to save businesses.

Despite controversy, the amendment was adopted Wednesday.

If the bill is passed, the cap on salaries will be effective July 24.
